With Milan laying hold to traditional tailoring, Paris seizing avant garde and New York claiming the majority of the contemporary (or “commercial,” if you prefer) market, it might seem as though London has little to offer on the menswear front. However, a rising crop of talent has emerged out of the city in recent years, raising eyebrows as to whether London just might be the future of menswear (keep in mind that some of today’s top menswear designers including Christopher Bailey, Oliver Spencer and Kim Jones are all British). During London Fashion Week this season, an impressive showing from designers like J.W. Anderson, James Long, Christopher Shannon and E. Tautz made it evident that London has adopted a menswear scene all of its own. – Adrian Brinkley
