What are the overall key influences for SS13?
KAHLO’s SS13 collection was inspired by the artworks of Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton and her intricate and meticulous technique. Focusing intensely on the quality of the fabrics and process of houw the garments are made, both Del Kathryn Barton’s artwork and KAHLO’s collection reflect femininity, power, and strength and show a dedication to perfection.
What are some key colors, fabrics, and items?
Echoing Barton’s dreamlike palette, colours of washed blueberry, avocado, mushroom, white, grey marl, olive, nude, black, charcoal, tan, and tangerine are used throughout the collection, marking the label’s first foray into brights.
In this collection we explored perforated leather. It is such a time consuming and intricate process to perforate every skin of leather prior to production but the end result is worth it.
We want to become known as the go-to label for amazing, quality leather pieces and with techniques such as perforating, we offer unique garments that fill a gap in the market for high-end, timeless pieces. Our leather pieces are individually hand-made in Australia and I think our customers really appreciate that.
What’s new for your brand for SS13?
KAHLO is collaborating with a well-known Australian shoe brand which is an amazing new experience. We are also in the early stages of planning our show for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013.
We are proud of how far KAHLO has come in the last year. There are many more potential opportunities that will present themselves in the future and we are excited and eagerly anticipating new experiences that will help us grow, learn, and develop.
