If I had to pick a fabric that seems recurrent within SS13 collections, I would say linen. Mixed with cotton or nylon, washed and processed, this noble weave is also one of the leading characters of Barena’s upcoming season, where textiles and the soft touch of each garment speaks for the entire collection once again.
One of the most interesting pieces is a blazer made of fresco lana, a lightweight merino wool perfect for every season, with a shirt-esque construction that makes it wearable in many situations, from a boardwalk aperitivo to more formal encounters. The brand also introduced their interpretation of triestinas, comfortable velvet espadrilles inspired by the summer shoes worn in the surroundings of Venice. It’s another perfect example of how Barena can innovate itself while keeping a foot in tradition.
