Wood Wood S/S 2012 Presentation

Copenhagen-based brand Wood Wood, a (capsule) favorite known for their quirky, graphic men’s and women’s collections, presented their Spring / Summer 2012 collection on July 7 in Berlin, their debut show as part of the city’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.  Berlin is something of a second home for the brand, with their flagship store in the Mitte district and an aesthetic that meshes well with the urban-bohemian, colorful atmosphere seen around town.  Held outdoors at the gritty Mica Moca venue at dusk, the presentation certainly didn’t disappoint fans of well-made, high-end streetwear.  Models with neon face paint walked to a tribal beat while the lively crowd looked on, beers in hand.  The women’s looks had a functional ease, with layered jumpsuits, skirts and several full-length parkas.  Earth tones were set off with bold stripes and prints throughout, giving a kick to the relaxed vibe; a standout included a bright red, wool 3/4 length sleeve dress with a surprise low-cut back.  On the men’s side, Wood Wood offered printed shorts and pants, some with matching shirts, and buttoned-up multi-colored polka dot tops.  The accessories were also on-point, with canvas backpacks and W fitted caps popping up in several looks, many of which also included the Euro-friendly staple of socks and sandals.  Made even more enjoyable by the perfect weather and Wood Wood’s innate Scandinavian-cool, the collection had us ready for (next) summer.
